An AMU student has been arrested along with a Thar without number plate on charges of supplying a pistol. Police arrested him during vehicle checking and also recovered a pistol. The accused has been sent to jail. He had purchased the recovered pistol from a youth of Jeevangarh. Was roaming around with the intention of selling it. The police is now trying to reach its original supplier and future buyer. Here, investigation was being done at AMU level till late night of 2nd May regarding his being a student.

According to the police spokesperson, as part of the campaign being run in view of the elections, the team led by Inspector Civil Lines Rajeev Kumar was checking near VM Hall on the night of May 1. Meanwhile, Thar vehicle was stopped near VM Hall during checking. Qasim Malik of Jamalpur Navi Nagar was traveling in the numberless vehicle. A .32 bore pistol with cartridges was recovered from him. Qasim was brought to the police station along with the car and pistol.

During interrogation, he admitted that he had purchased this pistol from a youth named Asif of Jeevangarh. According to the inspector, he was roaming around with the intention of selling it. Investigation regarding the recovered vehicle revealed that the vehicle had been sold several times and had been purchased by this young man. He had removed the number plate only with the intention of deceiving the police.
