Pitru Paksha has a lot of importance in Hinduism. It is also known as Shradh. It starts from the Pratipada date of Shukla Paksha of Ashwin month and continues till the day of Amavasya. During these 15 days of Shradh or Pitru Paksha, people offer Pind Daan to their ancestors and satisfy them. During this time, offering Pind Daan has a lot of importance.
In the year 2024, Shraadh is starting from Tuesday, 17th September. There are many such works which are prohibited during Shraadh. It is believed that doing these works makes the ancestors angry. The effect of which may have to be borne by the future generations.
During Shraddha, we should take special care that we should not hurt any animal or bird. We should not torture or kill anyone as doing so makes the ancestors angry.
Meat and alcohol should be avoided during Pitru Paksha. Satvik food should be consumed during this period. During this period, when our ancestors come to our house, do not do any such work which will make them angry and this affects the coming generations. Auspicious and auspicious works are not done during Pitru Paksha. During this period, no new things like clothes, gold-silver etc. are purchased. That is why take special care not to do these works during Pitru Paksha.
