Do not do these things at night – During Pitru Paksha, the offering of water to ancestors and the Shraddha should be done in sunlight. Do not perform Shraddha rituals after sunset as it does not yield any result. The ancestors come to earth only in sunlight and consume food and water.
New beginning – One should not start any new business, new work, new job during Pitru Paksha. It is believed that this increases struggle in life. Chances of success in work are less. Do not do house construction work, shifting to a new house, or Kalash Sthapana in a rented house.
Donation of these things is prohibited – Iron, leather items, old clothes, black clothes, stale food, oil etc. should not be donated during Pitru Paksha. It is believed that this makes the ancestors angry.
Be careful while mining and sleeping During Pitru Paksha, one should not eat non-vegetarian food, garlic and onion. Also, those who perform Tarpan and Shradh rituals should not have physical relations during these 15 days. This does not yield the fruits of Pitru Puja.
