During the world famous Pitru Paksha fair in Gaya, lakhs of Hindu Sanatan Dharma followers from every corner of the country and abroad come here and perform tarpan, pinddaan and shraddha rituals for the salvation, good fortune and upliftment of their ancestors. It is believed that ancestors get salvation by performing pinddaan and tarpan here. At the time of partition of India-Pakistan, lakhs of people returned to India from Pakistan and some people could not return to India from Pakistan. The ancestors of the people of Jind in Haryana who came to perform pinddaan during the ongoing Pitru Paksha fair in Gaya were residents of Taman village in Multan district of Pakistan. They died there. Their ancestors were natives of Pakistan. Now their family members have come to Gaya to perform pinddaan for the peace of their ancestors.
In this regard, Lovely Bhardwaj told that his ancestors who lived in Pakistan, wished that their Pind Daan should be performed in Gaya for salvation after death. He has reached Gaya to fulfill his last wish. Considering himself lucky for this, he said that he has got this opportunity. It is believed that ancestors get salvation by performing Pind Daan here. At the time of partition, many people could not return to India. They are still in Pakistan. They too must have wished to perform Pind Daan in Gaya.
I have come to Gaya for the first time to perform Pind Daan
Harivansh Lal told that his ancestors used to live in Pakistan where they died. He has come to Gaya for the first time to perform their Pind Daan. Tilak Bhardwaj told that his grandfather and other ancestors used to live in Pakistan. After partition, his father came and started living in Jind of Haryana. He has come to Gaya for the first time for the salvation of his ancestors and close relatives. Pind Daan, Tarpan and other rituals are being performed at 4 different Pind Vedis. He appreciated the arrangements made by the district administration.
