PM Fasal Bima Scheme: In the Kharif season, the crops of the farmers have suffered a loss of crores of rupees. Drought, floods and rains have destroyed crops worth crores of rupees. The Central Government and the State Governments are going ahead and helping the farmers. They are being given a respectable amount as crop compensation. To help the farmers, the central government is running the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana. Under this, farmers get insurance by paying a fixed premium. In case of damage to the crop, the amount is issued to them on behalf of the insurance company. Under this scheme, farmers have taken help of lakhs of crores from the central government.
Farmers took Rs 1.25 lakh crore in 6 years
The figures of Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana have come out. According to him, the central government has helped the farmers a lot. Actually, the scheme was launched in the year 2016. Claims worth Rs 1.25 lakh crore have been paid to the farmers. In lieu of this, till October 31, 2022, farmers have deposited a total amount of Rs 25186 crore as premium. Officials say that the government, under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, farmers who are losing crops due to natural calamities. The government will give its proper compensation to the farmers.
Every year 5 crore farmers are applying
To what extent the crops of the farmers are getting damaged in the country. It can be gauged from this that every year about 5 crore farmers are applying to get the benefits of the scheme. Verification of crop damage can be done at the level of the representatives of the government. Compensation is issued to the farmer after the proof of loss. The Central Government says that the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana is the third largest crop insurance scheme in the world. After the launch of the scheme in the year 2016, the share of non-loanee farmers, marginal farmers and small farmers has increased to 282 percent.
This much amount of insurance is received
Other farmers, including small farmers, have to pay a maximum of 2 percent for Kharif, 1.5 percent for Rabi food and oilseed crops and 5 percent for commercial and horticultural crops. The premium amount exceeding this limit is borne by the Central and State Governments. In the North Eastern states, the sharing between the Center and the States is 90:10. Whereas for other states it is 50-50.
