Ajmer Sharif Dargah: On Friday (January 3, 2025), Union Minister Kiren Rijiju and BJP Minority Front National President Jamal Siddiqui will visit Nizamuddin Auliya Dargah with the chadar presented by PM Narendra Modi to Ajmer Dargah. Both will reach the Dargah at 9.30 am. This chadar presented by the PM will be presented at Ajmer Dargah after being taken to Nizamuddin Aulia Dargah.
Union Minister Kiren Rijiju posted on X and wrote, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji presented the chadar offered on his behalf at Ajmer Sharif Dargah on the Urs of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti. This gesture reflects his deep respect for India’s rich spiritual heritage and its enduring message of harmony and compassion.”

What is Urs Sharif festival?
The festival of Urs Sharif is celebrated every year at the Dargah of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti in Ajmer, Rajasthan. The death anniversary of Moinuddin Chishti is known as Urs. It is an important religious event that attracts a large number of pilgrims. The festival lasts for six days and involves various rituals and spiritual ceremonies.
When is Urs celebrated?
Urs is celebrated every year in the Islamic calendar Rajab in Ajmer Sharif. Urs starts only after the moon is visible. If for some reason the moon is not visible then the rituals of Urs start from the next day for six days. The sixth day is called Urs-e-Chhathi Sharif. This year the 813th Urs Mahotsav has started from 31 December 2024. During Urs, Zikr and Qawwali take place throughout the night in the Dargar premises. Lakhs of devotees from across the country and the world reach Ajmer during this period.
