While laying the foundation stone of these three semiconductor plants, PM Modi said, “The three fab units will help in making India a global hub of semiconductor manufacturing.” PM Narendra Modi During the ‘India’s Teched: Chips for Developed India’ event, he said, “Today is a historic day. Today we are also creating history and taking a huge and strong step towards a bright future.”

Told the future to the youth

PM Modi also shared the video clip of this program from his official X (old name Twitter) account. Posting this video, the PM wrote in the caption, “India is ready to become a major center of semiconductor manufacturing. Three new plants will promote economic growth and new innovations. In this program, PM Modi said, I all I congratulate the countrymen for this important start and step. Today our colleagues from Taiwan have also participated virtually in this program. I am also very excited by these efforts of India. Due to this amazing effort of ours, more than 60,000 people of the country Colleges, universities and education institutes are also connected. This is a record in itself.”

The Prime Minister further said, “I had made a special request to the Ministry that today’s program is the dream program of the youth of the country and hence maximum number of youth should be included in this program. Even if today’s event is organized at semiconductor plants, “But if there are any real stakeholders of the future of India, then they are our youth, youth and students. Therefore, my wish was that the students of India should definitely witness this historic moment.”

Approval was given on 29 February

Let us tell you that on February 29, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) of India had given the green signal to three semiconductor plants to be built in India. The ministry had informed that Tata Electronics and Taiwan’s Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (PSMC) will jointly set up India’s first semiconductor fabrication plant in Dholera, Gujarat.

Apart from Dholera, the cabinet has also approved Tata Semiconductor Assembly and Test Private Limited for setting up a chip assembly and testing unit in Assam. Apart from this, CG Power and Japan’s Renesa will jointly set up a semiconductor plant in Sanand, Gujarat. According to the government, Rs 91,000 crore has been approved for Dholera, Rs 7600 crore for Sanand and Rs 27,000 crore for semiconductor plant in Assam.
