PM Modi Visit: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Tamil Nadu, Lakshadweep and Kerala on 2-3 January. During his visit, PM Modi will inaugurate or lay the foundation stone of development works and projects costing crores of rupees.
This visit of PM Modi in the new year is taking place at a time when Lok Sabha Elections The time of 2024 is near. In view of the general elections, all political parties including BJP are making efforts to attract voters from every section and place. It is believed that this visit of PM Modi will give edge to BJP’s southern mission.
PM Modi said this about his visit
On Monday (January 1), PM Modi told about his program in a post through his official X handle. PM Modi wrote, “In the next two days, I will participate in various programs in Tamil Nadu, Lakshadweep and Kerala. The programs will begin from Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, where I will address the convocation of Bharathidasan University. The new terminal building of the airport will also be inaugurated. Besides, other development works will also be started. Many people will benefit from these works.
PM Modi further said, “I am eager to go among the people of Lakshadweep. Development works worth Rs 1150 crore will either be inaugurated or their foundation stone will be laid. These works include projects related to better internet connectivity, ensuring clean drinking water supply, solar energy, healthcare etc.

PM Modi’s tour schedule
According to PIB, PM Modi will reach Tiruchirappalli in Tamil Nadu on January 2 at around 10:30 am. Here the PM will attend the 38th convocation of Bharathidasan University as the chief guest. Here he will give awards to meritorious students. On this occasion he will also address the public.
At a public event in Tiruchirappalli at around 12 noon, PM Modi will inaugurate or lay the foundation stone of several development projects worth more than Rs 19,850 crore related to aviation, rail, road, oil and gas, shipping and higher education sectors. The Prime Minister will inaugurate the new terminal building at Tiruchirappalli International Airport at a public event in Tiruchirappalli.
Among other projects, PM Modi will inaugurate ‘Amethyst’, a 500-bed boys’ hostel of the National Institute of Technology (NIT) in Tiruchirappalli.
PM Modi’s Lakshadweep program
PM Modi will reach Agatti in Lakshadweep at around 3:15 pm, where he will address a public function. On January 3, at around 12 noon, PM Modi will reach Kavaratti in Lakshadweep, where, among other things, he will dedicate several development projects to the nation and lay the foundation stone of several development projects related to sectors like telecom, drinking water, solar energy and health in Lakshadweep.
Prime Minister will inaugurate the Kochi-Lakshadweep Islands Submarine Optical Fiber Connection (KLI-SOFC) project. This will increase the internet speed more than 100 times (from 1.7 Gbps to 200 Gbps).
PM Modi will dedicate to the nation the Low Temperature Thermal Desalination (LTTD) plant in Kadmat. This will produce 1.5 lakh liters of clean drinking water every day.
Tap water will reach all the houses in Agatti and Minicoy islands
The PM will also dedicate to the nation the operational household tap connections (FHTC) in all the houses of Agatti and Minicoy islands. Availability of potable water in the islands of Lakshadweep has always been a challenge because being a coral island, the availability of groundwater is very limited. These beverage projects will also help strengthen the tourism potential of the islands, thereby increasing local employment opportunities.
Other projects dedicated to the nation include the solar power plant at Kavaratti, which is Lakshadweep’s first battery supported solar power project. This will help in reducing the dependence on diesel based power generation plant in the new administrative block and 80 men barracks of the India Reserve Battalion (IRBN) complex at Kavaratti.
PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for the renovation of the primary health care facility at Kalpeni and construction of five model Anganwadi centers (Nand Ghars) in the five islands of Androth, Chetlat, Kadmat, Agatti and Minicoy.
