Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Gujarat on 27 and 28 July. During his visit to Gujarat, the Prime Minister will give a big gift to the people of Saurashtra related to the life-giving SAUNI scheme along with many development projects. The Gujarat government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, has completed the construction work of Package 8 and Package 9 of Link-3 under SAUNI i.e. Saurashtra Narmada Avtaran Irrigation Scheme. On July 27, Prime Minister Modi will dedicate this project to the people of Saurashtra.
More than 98 thousand people of 95 villages will benefit
With the recently completed packages 8 and 9 of Link 3 under the SAUNI project, 52,398 acres of land in 95 villages of Saurashtra and about 98 thousand people will now be able to get Narmada water for drinking. It is noteworthy that under SAUNI project, Rs 265 crore was spent under Package 8 of Link-3 and 32.56 km up to Bhadar-1 and Veri Dam. Feeder extension line of 2500 mm diameter MS pipeline of length has been laid. This will make it possible for more than 75,000 people of 57 villages to get drinking water and Narmada water for irrigation of more than 42,380 acres of land.
In the same sequence, if we talk about Package 9 of Link 3, Rs 129 crore will be spent on 36.50 km stretch till Aji-1 Dam and Fofal-1 Dam. Feeder extension line of 2500 mm diameter MS pipeline of length has been laid. This will make it possible to provide Narmada water for irrigation to more than 10018 acres of land in 38 villages and drinking water to more than 23,000 people.
