Now sources have informed The Economic Times that the government is investigating reports of a data breach related to the datasets of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO). According to the report, officials of the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (Cert-IN) have been assigned the task of investigating the situation.

According to this report, a senior official of the IT Ministry told the Indian Express that, we are aware of it, but we need to verify whether the claims being made about data leakage are true or not. He (Cert-In) will investigate it and present a detailed report.

Suspicion of China’s involvement in this game

However, till now no significant progress has been made in the ongoing investigation regarding the data leak news of PMO and EPFO. The IT ministry did not respond to requests for comment. Let us tell you that on Tuesday, a social media user had claimed on Twitter that data has been leaked on GitHub by Chinese cyber agencies, which includes data of many institutions including Indian PMO and EPFO.

According to reports on Github, leaked documents circulated on the platform allegedly reveal a spyware initiative by Chinese infosec company I-Soon. The targets of this cyber operation include social media platforms, telecommunication companies and various global organizations. There are also apprehensions being raised about the involvement of the Chinese government in organizing these activities.
