STF said that in a joint operation with the Forest Department team, 563 kg of red sandalwood worth about two crore rupees has been recovered from them. All the seven accused had come to Mathura to sell this red sandalwood.
Made a plan to smuggle after watching Pushpa film
According to the STF, the accused confessed that they had seen the film ‘Pushpa: The Rise’ and took inspiration from the film itself to steal expensive wood and earn quick money. Like the film, he had decided to earn money but was caught.

The STF said that they used to bring red sandalwood illegally from Andhra Pradesh and sell it at religious places and areas around Mathura. An FIR has been registered against all these seven people at the Highway Police Station under relevant sections of the IPC and other acts.
To catch all these, the team of STF, Forest Department and Thana Highway Police had conducted a special checking operation on Monday night, during which all the seven accused were caught. While four accused are absconding. All these accused were traveling in two cars. On searching the car, more than five and a half quintals of red sandalwood was recovered. Its estimated cost is around two crore rupees.
