A shocking incident has come to light in Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh. In which a college washroom 300 Pornographic videos were made of girls without their knowledge. This incident came to light when a student suspected it. As soon as he found the hidden camera he immediately informed the police. This incident shocked not only the college administration but everybody else.. So let’s know what is the punishment for this crime under Indian law.
What is the provision of punishment in Indian law?
For such a serious incident, there are many provisions in the Indian legal system which provide for severe punishment to the culprits.
Indian Penal CodeSection of (IPC) 354C and354D – Section 354C is for the situation when a person has taken a photo or video of someone’s nudity or private parts without permission. It has a maximum of 5 years of imprisonment and fine can be given. Whereas section 354D is for stalking and indecent contact. This offence is also punishable with a jail term and fine.
Information Technology (IT) Section of the Act 66E & 67- Section 66E Punishes sharing obscene photos or videos of a person. It has a maximum 3 years imprisonment and fine can be imposed. The same section 67 Relates to publication and dissemination of obscene material, which has the maximum 5 Years imprisonment and fine can be imposed.
Section of Indian Penal Code 376- If the making of the video is accompanied by any kind of sexual harassment or rape, then the stream Can be punished under 376 , which can result in life imprisonment and severe punishment.

In such incidents, to provide justice to the victims, police has to immediately register an FIR and collect evidence. Victims are also provided with legal aid and psychological support. Police and other law enforcement agencies take prompt action considering the seriousness of such incidents.
