In Bhilwara, every person has a deep interest in environmental conservation and tree plantation. Here, environmental conservation is done in a very special and traditional way. In the villages of Bhilwara, trees and plants are worshipped in a traditional way and are made to wear a turban (head turban). This means that a message of protecting trees is given. This tradition is being followed for generations in not just one or two but many villages.

In Bhilwara’s Mahua, Manpura Amritia, Barundani, Beletha, Gogakheda, Asind Karera Raipur, Sahada villages, trees and plants were worshipped and turban was worn on them. Due to this, thousands of acres of pasture land is being protected in the district. The environment is becoming rich with trees, plants and grass.

In this tradition, first of all the whole village gathers at a temple or Devasthan. The Lord is worshipped with great pomp and show with drums and trumpets. Then a turban is taken from the Devasthan and one end of the turban is taken to the temple and the other end is taken to the place of worship. The whole village takes part in this tradition and offers its cooperation by touching the turban. After worshipping, the trees and plants are made to wear the turban and wishes are made for greenery and prosperity of the farms.
