According to media reports, the demand for Kadaknath chicken has increased so much in Gwalior that up to 10,000 orders have been pending here.

A separate farm has been set up for the production of Kadaknath chicken in the Agricultural University of Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. Here the process of making chicks from the eggs of Kadaknath chicken is completed. At present the capacity of the farm is around 2 thousand. Till some time ago there was consumption in the country. But in the last few days the demand for Kadaknath chicken has increased rapidly. About 10,000 orders are pending here.

MS Dhoni also likes Kadaknath

Kadaknath cock had come into the limelight some time back as well. The reason behind this was Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the captain of the Indian cricket team. According to media reports, Mahendra Singh Dhoni had ordered more than 2 thousand chickens from Madhya Pradesh for Kadaknath cock rearing in his farm.

Kadaknath is different from the normal Margaan. Because of its black appearance, it is called Kalimasi. The meat and eggs of Kadaknath chicken are more nutritious and tasty than other chicken. Fat is about one percent in Kadaknath, while protein is found up to 25 percent.
