PM Modi congratulated KP Sharma Oli: President Ramchandra Paudel has appointed 72-year-old KP Sharma Oli, the president of CPN-UML, as the new Prime Minister of Nepal. He also took oath as the Prime Minister on Monday. Prime Minister Modi has congratulated him on social media.

The President’s Office had issued a statement
Earlier, Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist Leninist) (CPN-UML) President and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli was appointed the head of the new coalition government. A statement was issued by the President’s Office of Nepal regarding this. The statement said, ‘Under Article 76 (2) of the Constitution, the President has appointed CPN-UML President Oli as the Prime Minister.
Earlier on Friday (12 July), Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal lost the trust vote in the lower house. On 3 July, CPN-UML formed an alliance with the Nepali Congress. They withdrew their support from Dahal’s coalition government. After this, Paudel called for a new alliance of political parties having majority in the House of Representatives. On which Oli staked claim to form the government with the support of the main opposition Nepali Congress party.
