Who is Priya Bapat?
Priya Bapat is an actress who got fame in Marathi films compared to Hindi films, who made her debut with the award winning film Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar. In this film, she played the role of a child artist opposite Mammootty. The film also received the National Award.
In 2003, Priya made her Bollywood debut as an actress with Sanjay Dutt-Rajkumar Hirani’s film Munna Bhai MBBS. Priya played the role of supporting actress in the film. At the same time, he also had a special appearance in Lage Raho Munna Bhai.
Early life was difficult
Priya Bapat grew up living in a small chawl on Ranade Road in Dadar, Mumbai. While talking to Times of India in 2018, he had told about the difficult days spent in the chawl.
He had said, ‘I spent 25 years of my life in a chawl. I stayed there until I got married. From Diwali to celebrating every festival, I have many memories associated with that chawl. The special thing was that all the houses in those chawls were connected to each other. All the houses were connected by doors from inside, so you could move around the entire chawl without going out. Due to this system all the families were connected to each other. Now it seems that the apartment system has created distance between people.
Priya said that she lived in this chawl till her marriage with Umesh Kamat. Before this, she had debuted in films but still remained in chawl.
Faced rejection 100 times
Priya Bapat’s journey has not been easy. In an interview given to Bollywood Hungama, he had told that he was rejected 100 times before getting the TV ad for the first time.
