The payment was also made on the same day after showing the work on the spot. The government has taken a tough stand when this “magic wand” of the department came to the fore. The decision to suspend four engineers including the executive engineer has been taken from the higher level.
There is Dildar Nagar-Dewal link road on the Bihar border in the construction block of Ghazipur. Rs 1.5 crore was released on March 31, the last day of the last financial year, for the renovation of this road. Payment was also made to a firm on the same day by making two fake bills. When the government got the entire matter investigated by the district administration of Ghazipur, financial irregularities were confirmed. However, it is said that after the matter was caught in the investigation, the local engineers also got the work done on the spot in a hurry.

Adopting the policy of zero tolerance towards corruption in the entire episode, the Yogi government has decided to suspend Executive Engineer Patanjali G Srivastava, Assistant Engineer Aniket Gupta and Junior Engineers Amit Yadav and Shahnawaz Ahmed. According to highly placed sources, order to suspend the executive and assistant engineer will be issued soon from the government level. At the same time, a letter is being written to the PWD headquarters to suspend both the junior engineers. Disciplinary inquiry will also be conducted against all these engineers under appropriate provisions.
