INDIA Seat Sharing: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday (January 24) gave a big blow to the Congress and the opposition alliance ‘India’. He announced that Trinamool Congress (TMC) will contest the Lok Sabha elections alone on all 42 seats in Bengal. Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra will pass through Congress stronghold
This yatra, which is going on in Assam, is likely to enter West Bengal through Basirhat on January 25. After resting for two days on 26-27 January, the Yatra will pass through Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar, North Dinajpur and Darjeeling before reaching Bihar on 29 January.
It will re-enter West Bengal on January 31 via Malda and pass through Murshidabad. Both Malda and Murshidabad are considered strongholds of Congress. The yatra will depart from the state on February 1.

Responding to Mamata Banerjee’s statement, Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh said, “The opposition alliance ‘India’ cannot be imagined without West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee.”
