Former PM Rajiv Gandhi Birth Anniversary: Today (20 August) is the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister of the country Rajiv Gandhi. Let us tell you that after the assassination of his mother, Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi took over the reins of the Congress Party in 1984. He became the youngest Prime Minister of India in October 1984 at the age of 40. He was the Prime Minister till 2 December 1989. On 21 May 1991, Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated by a member of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) during an election rally in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu.
