Railway Auto Upgradation Scheme Know Who Can Eligible For Uograde

Auto Upgradation Scheme: Those traveling by train should be aware of its scheme. There is a scheme called Auto Upgradation in Railways. Under which the passengers are upgraded one class above their class. Means if a passenger has booked sleeper class ticket, then he is upgraded to 3AC for free. Similarly, if someone has taken 3AC ticket, then he is upgraded to 2AC and 2AC ticket is upgraded to 1st AC. Let us understand the rules of this scheme.

This is how railways discovered this scheme

After studying for a long time, Railways noticed that there is a big difference between demand and supply of popular trains. While on the one hand there is a scramble for seats in the sleeper class, on the other hand the seats in the AC class are lying vacant. Although, there is a lot of demand for berths in 3AC in AC class, but there is not that much demand in 2AC and 1AC. After this the auto upgradation scheme was brought.

On what basis is the upgrade done?

Under this scheme, waitlisted passengers of 3AC are upgraded to 2AC. Similarly, passengers of 2AC are upgraded to fill the vacant seats of 1st AC. Passengers are given the option for upgradation at the time of booking tickets. If no option is given, it is assumed to be yes. Under upgradation, passengers are raised only one class.

How much will be charged for cancellation?

After upgrade the original PNR remains the same. Passenger can make any inquiry on the basis of original PNR. If a passenger cancels his ticket after being upgraded, only the cancellation charge for the original class will be charged and not for the class after the upgrade.

In which passengers and trains is the upgrade done?

This upgradation scheme of railways is not available in those trains which have only seating arrangement. For example, this system is not applicable in second class seat or chair car, AC chair car and executive class. Apart from this, passengers traveling on concession or traveling on pass also cannot get the benefit of this facility. As per the plan, only wait listed passengers are given confirmed seats. If there is no waiting list in any train, then there is no upgradation in it.
