Rajasthan Congress Candidate List: Congress on Wednesday night announced candidates for the by-elections to be held on seven assembly seats in Rajasthan. The party has nominated Amit Ola from Jhunjhunu, Deen Dayal Bairwa from Dausa, Kastur Chand Meena from Deoli-Uniara, Ratan Chaudhary from Khinvsar, Mahesh Rot from Chaurasi, Reshma Meena from Salumber and Aryan Zubair from Ramgarh.

Amit Ola is the son of MP Brijendra Singh Ola. Aryan Zubair is the son of former MLA late Zubair Khan. With the announcement of candidates on all seven seats, it has become clear that Congress is not forging an alliance with Hanuman Beniwal’s Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLP).

Congress-RLP alliance broken

In the Lok Sabha elections held this year, Congress had formed an alliance with RLP on Nagaur seat and Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) on Sikar seat. Hanuman Beniwal, who won the Khinvsar assembly seat of Nagaur district in the 2023 assembly elections, was elected MP from Nagaur parliamentary seat this year, after which the Khinvsar assembly seat has become vacant. There was speculation of Congress-RLP alliance on Khinvsar seat but things did not materialize.

Voting for by-elections on all seven seats will be held on November 13 and the results will be declared on November 23. The nomination process started on Friday and the last date for filing nominations is October 25. There are a total of 200 seats in the assembly, out of which 5 seats are vacant due to MLAs becoming MPs and two seats are vacant due to the death of MLAs.

Why are by-elections taking place?

The seven assembly seats on which by-elections are to be held include Jhunjhunu seat Congress MLA Brijendra Ola, Dausa seat Congress MLA Murarilal Meena, Deoli-Uniara seat Congress MLA Harish Chandra Meena, Khinvsar seat Rashtriya Loktantrik Party MLA Hanuman Beniwal and Chaurasi seat Bharat Adivasi. The vacancy is due to the resignation of party MLA Rajkumar Roat.

All these MLAs had resigned after being elected as MPs in the Lok Sabha elections held this year. The state’s Ramgarh seat has become vacant due to the death of Congress MLA Zuber Khan and Salumber seat has become vacant due to the death of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Amritlal Meena.

Who had how many seats?

Of the seven seats for which by-elections are to be held, four were with Congress. At present in the state assembly, there are 114 MLAs from Bharatiya Janata Party, 65 from Congress, three from Bharat Adivasi Party, two from Bahujan Samaj Party and one from Rashtriya Lok Dal. Apart from this, there are eight independent MLAs. This by-election is very important for Congress, because it had won the last two elections. Lok Sabha elections Has performed quite well since.
