According to media reports, Rajendra Kumar asked Raj Kapoor to convert their friendship into a relationship, which Raj Kapoor agreed to. Raj Kapoor’s daughter Reema Kapoor and Rajendra Kumar’s son Kumar Gaurav’s marriage was discussed and the matter was finalized. But later Kumar Gaurav liked Sanjay Dutt’s sister Namrata Dutt and married her in the year 1984.
When Raj Kapoor came to know about this, he started keeping aloof from Rajendra Kumar and it is said that both of them did not even like to meet each other. Some time before Raj Kapoor’s death, Rajendra Kumar went to meet him and they became friends again.
