BJP candidate from Lucknow seat of Uttar Pradesh and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh narrated an old incident about his son. Talking to India TV, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said that two senior BJP leaders had approached Pankaj Singh with his name to contest the elections, but he refused. He said, “In the year 2007, there were assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh. At that time, former Chief Minister Kalyan Singh and current Governor of Rajasthan Kalraj Mishra came to me with the name of Pankaj Singh from an assembly constituency in Varanasi.”

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said, “At that time I was the president of the party. Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and former Deputy Prime Minister Lal Krishna Advani were sitting next to me. I refused both the leaders and said that with my hands I would I will not give ticket to my son. After which Atal Bihari Vajpayee said that I do not agree with this decision.”

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said, “After this, Pankaj came home and touched my feet. He was very sad and went to his mother and complained. I clearly told him that I cannot give the symbol to my son with my own hand. , Because for me everyone is equal. After that, Pankaj acted with great restraint. He emotionally said that Papa, if you don’t want me, I will not contest the elections.”
