The Supreme Court collegium headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud has recommended the name of Justice Rakesh Mohan Pandey for appointment as a permanent judge of the Chhattisgarh High Court. According to the resolutions uploaded on the website of the country’s highest court, the collegium also recommended the names of Justices Sachin Singh Rajput and Radhakishan Aggarwal for appointment as additional judges of the Chhattisgarh High Court.

The resolution said that the collegium, which also includes Justices Sanjiv Khanna and BR Gavai, has recommended that Additional Justice Waseem Sadiq Nargal be appointed as an additional judge for a new term of one year.

In fact, on November 22, 2023, the Collegium of the Chhattisgarh High Court had unanimously recommended the appointment of Additional Judge Justice Pandey as a permanent judge of the High Court and extension of the current tenure of Justice Rajput and Justice Aggarwal.

The Collegium said that in terms of the resolution of the Supreme Court Collegium dated October 26, 2017, a committee of two judges of the Supreme Court constituted by the Chief Justice of India appraised the decisions of the above mentioned additional judges. The Collegium examined and evaluated the material placed on record to assess the eligibility and suitability of the above names. After considering all aspects of the case, the Collegium has decided that Justice Rakesh Mohan Pandey, Additional Judge, is fit and suitable to be appointed as a permanent Judge and Justice Sachin Singh Rajput and Justice Radhakishan Aggarwal are fit and proper to be appointed as the Collegium of the High Court. Are eligible to be appointed for a new term as per the recommendation.
