Ram Kapoor’s journey to become an actor has not been easy. Ram Kapoor’s father ran an advertising agency and had many plans to bring his son into business, but Ram wanted to become an actor instead of doing business. His father did not like this plan of Ram. Because of this, he had stopped talking to his son and not only this, he had even stopped sending money to his son who had gone to study abroad.
Ram Kapoor has told about his journey of becoming an actor in an interview given to Siddharth Kanan. He said- ‘I was the son of a rich man and grew up with a lot of privileges but after school I told my father that I did not want to run his company and I wanted to make my own path. So I left all the privileges and made my own way. For which it took me 10 years.

Ram further said- ‘When I was 13-14 years old, I told my father that I wanted to become an actor. He didn’t take me seriously, especially because I was a small child and he was a much older man. For him, his company was his legacy and everything and he wanted his only son to carry it forward. So, when I said that I did not want to take his company, I understood what he must have gone through. Then I ran away to America and took admission in the acting school of my choice.

Ram further said- ‘My father had stopped talking to me and had also stopped sending money. I was doing everything myself in America. Was earning money for his food and rent. I worked at Starbucks, sold second hand vehicles. If I had not done this, I would not have been what I am today.
It took 10 years to create an identity
Ram said- ‘It took me 10 years… Then there came a time when people from his own office came to him and asked their boss to get photographs taken with their son. Only then did father realize that I had become something. And I won’t come back. We did not talk for 10 years but gradually he started developing respect for me.
