The holy month of Ramadan has started. Devotees have started preparations for fasting. There was a crowd in the market till late evening on March 11 for Ramzan shopping. People bought food items and fruits. There was a period of reciting Tarawi in mosques.

Devotees eagerly wait for the sacred month of Ramzan throughout the year. After the sighting of the moon, as soon as it was decided that Ramadan would begin from March 12, a wave of happiness ran among the devotees. For the next one month, people of Muslim community will worship God by fasting. Buyers started appearing in the market from Monday morning itself to purchase food items. People purchased cotton-fanny, chips, papad, dates, namkeen, biscuits and other food items. Shia and Sunni communities have also released calendar for Roza Iftar and Sehri.

Muslim arrangements committee asked for permission to play loudspeaker

Muslim Arrangements Committee’s Sadar Rahat Ahmed Qureshi and General Secretary Qurban Ali Shahzada have written a letter to the DM seeking permission to play loudspeakers at a low volume during the holy month of Ramzan. The municipality has been demanded to clean the Muslim settlements and mosques of the city, make arrangements for drinking water and electricity and install lights on the pillars.
