Rampur: Nihari Gosht is a special dish from the royal kitchen of the Mughals. It is still famous in Rampur for its royal taste. This dish has been a part of the royal banquet since the time of the Nawabs.
Nihari, available on Pan Dariba Road near Angoorwali Masjid in Rampur, has its own specialty. There is a long queue of people eating Nihari here in the morning and evening. This Nihari, available for Rs 60, is so delicious that people come from far and wide to eat it.
Nihari cooks in 10 hours
40 kg Nihari is made here every day. Nihari is cooked on low flame for about 10 hours, due to which the flavors of its spices and mutton get completely mixed. Spices like cardamom, cinnamon, nutmeg, bay leaves, and saffron are added to it, which give it a royal aroma and taste. Rampur’s Nihari is made even more special by using rose water, curd, desi ghee and refined sugar.
