Rat miner lawyer Hassan is living on the footpath after his house collapsed. After home, lawyer Hasan and his family spent the second night on the footpath. Delhi Development Authority asked to give him another house, which lawyer Hasan rejected. Advocate Hasan said on Friday, ‘My family and I are spending the night in the open. Some local people are providing us food and water etc. We have now accepted the night as a challenge.

Advocate Hasan said that the family has not received any help from the government so far. Hassan was part of a team of miners who rescued 41 workers trapped by manual drilling in the debris of the Silkyara Tunnel in Uttarkashi in November last year. His house in Khajuri Khas in North-East Delhi was demolished by the DDA in a demolition drive on Wednesday. He said on Thursday that DDA officials had told him that he would be provided a house, but he rejected the offer. Because it was only a verbal assurance.

Later in the day they demanded that their house be rebuilt on the same land and threatened to go on a hunger strike if their demands were not met. While Hasan claims that his house was demolished without any notice. The DDA has said that it was aware of the encroachment status of his house, as it was earlier removed in 2016 and the land was again encroached upon in 2017. The DDA said that in its role as an authority it cannot allow encroachment on its land or unauthorized construction in its development areas.
