Razia Sultan was able to collect only 2 crores worldwide at the box office. It was able to earn only 20 percent of its budget.
The industry was drowned in debt
Kamal had borrowed a lot of money to make Razia Sultan. Many financiers, distributors and other investors suffered huge losses when the film flopped. The film’s large scale meant that a large part of the film industry was in losses. A trade magazine at the time wrote in an article that the film’s box office failure had plunged the entire industry into debt.
