Read Web Series Review Jaanbaaz Hindustan Ke is another debacle for director Srijit Mukherjee.

Web Series REVIEW ‘Jaanbaaz Hindustan Ke’: Ranbir Kapoor’s film was to say ‘Rockstar’, but director Imtiaz Ali’s full attention was on how he could give maximum screen time to heroine Nargis Fakhri without any talent. The pain is not that all efforts were made to keep the camera on Nargis, but that Imtiaz is a perfectionist type of director, how did he make this mistake.

Well, on the same lines, it is not expected from the director Srijit Mukherjee that he should focus so much on the heroine that he should build the entire web series around her. After watching the web series ‘Jambaz Hindustan Ke’ released on Zee5 on the patriotic day of Republic Day, it seems that what do you want to prove by converting a one and a half hour film into an 8 episode long series of about 30-30 minutes? This series has been drawn to such an extent that even if the audience returns after having tea and snacks in between and chatting, they will not miss anything. Jambaaz is a poor web series of India. G5 owners should think before making such a series.

Writers Neeraj Udhwani (Inside Edge) and Ashish P Verma (Sanak, Tehran) were probably given the brief to show Regina Cassandra as a tough policewoman, write a story around her. Made no attempt to stop. In a fun way, he kept taking the story to Shillong, Manipur, Delhi, Jaipur and Kerala. There has been no sensitivity towards the time line anywhere in this entire episode. One day the media of the whole state calls Regina a “lioness” and then after some time she keeps on firing bullets in Kerala.

Both the writer and the director have forgotten the time that passed between these two incidents. Sumit Vyas has been made a terrorist of ISIS, who is an amazingly connected person, but still runs like ordinary criminals and suddenly appears in any city. Despite being the head of Bangladesh’s ISIS, he has a wonderful grip in India, yet he does not know the basic methods of running away from the police. Gayatri Shankar, the heroine of Tamil and Malayalam films, keeps trying to be mysterious without talking and in the end she is caught like a two-penny spoon of a goon. Mita Vashishtha does not know how to smile and she does not smile either, but does not bring a single thing in her character by which her character can be remembered. Varun Sobti and Chandan Roy’s characters show a little bit of relief and the audience gets a little bit of relief, otherwise everyone hesitates to smile.

The name of the story is just a joke. A terrorist organization smuggles RDX near Shillong. This RDX has to reach every corner of the country and then through drones it has to be used in explosions at different places. A CM in a meeting, and some MLAs in an assembly are also killed in this way. Terrorists plan to blow up the Home Minister in this way. In such a situation, National Investigation Agency Chief Mahira Rizvi (Mita Vashisht) and Kavya Iyer (Regina) together uncover this whole conspiracy and like any film, everything turns out well here.

Why were 8 episodes made for a one line story? Was the angle involving Kavya’s personal life necessary? Probably not. Why should Kavya have a habit of disobeying orders? Why was it necessary to have a setback in his career? Why should he have thrown the loop line after the jerk? Everything is being made according to convenience and there is no issue of anyone’s personal life except Regina. One or two scenes of Sumeet Vyas and Gayatri and one scene of Mita Vashisht have been kept so that they get some respite from Regina’s overdose.

Jaambaz Hindustan Ke is another failed attempt by Zee5. To redeem patriotism, now something new will have to be done, this story of dealing with terrorists, plans to stop terror attacks, low budget way to do something bigger than shoddy technology….all this should be stopped. You can avoid watching this series. You have seen many such series.
