Expansion
To overcome the shortage of drivers, UP Roadways will now organize recruitment camps at the depot and bus stand level. In Bareilly region, the roadways needs at least 450 drivers on contract. There is pressure to recruit 125 of these drivers as soon as possible. The contract recruitment process has been going on for a month, but drivers are not being found. Now drivers will be recruited on Monday and Friday at each depot.
The recruitment process of contract drivers in roadways was completed at the headquarters level till now. The number kept decreasing due to lack of recruitment of drivers from time to time. These days there is a shortage of drivers in the entire state. Bareilly, Rohilkhand, Badaun and Pilibhit depots of the region need at least 450 drivers. Due to shortage of drivers, only one driver is being sent instead of two on buses on long routes.
Now barely 10-12 percent of the buses in the fleet of the four depots are old. The roadways has a fleet of new buses ready, but due to lack of drivers, all the buses are not able to run. For the recruitment of drivers, the recruitment process will be done on Monday and Friday at the depot level from the headquarters. Apart from this, orders have also been given to set up camps at the bus stations of the tehsil headquarters. The responsibility has been given to the concerned ARM.
