Udaipur:- The dominance of men in religious rituals is slightly higher. Sarla Gupta, 64, from Udaipur, Rajasthan, did this feat. She not only performs auspicious rites like marriage, mundan and karnachdan, but has also performed more than 70 funerals in the last five years. Decision of funeral in Korona period
Sarla Gupta started getting married and other religious work done in 2016, but when the outbreak of Kovid epidemic increased in 2020, he also decided to adopt works like funeral. Three women are performing funeral
Sarla says that apart from her in India, only two other women are working to get the funeral done. Whichever house she goes to, she motivates the women of the house to participate in religious works and try to teach them laws.
Duly trained from Arya Samaj
There has been a tradition of Arya Samaj in Sarla’s family. There was a regular havan in his house since childhood. In 2016, when her husband Rajkumar Gupta retired from Hindustan Zinc, she expressed her desire to do priest. After this, he trained in the camps of Arya Samaj in Rosad in Ajmer and Gujarat and learned the nuances of various rituals from chanting.
Society’s mentality changed, now praise is happening
In the initial days, some people of the society opposed their move, but today their works are being appreciated. Now they are also called from many other cities including Jaipur, Prayagraj, Ajmer. She tells Local 18 that now people have started accepting the female pundit. Women need to be connected to religious works, so that they can become self -sufficient. Sarla Gupta has become an example of women empowerment today and is giving rise to a new thinking in the society.
