Rashtriya Lok Dal has also formed an alliance with Bharatiya Janata Party in NDA. Hema Malini will get significant benefit from this on Mathura seat. There are around three and a half lakh Jat voters in Mathura Lok Sabha seat.
After 15 years, RLD-BJP will contest elections together again in Mathura. Earlier, the 2009 Lok Sabha elections were fought under the alliance. Then RLD had launched Jayant Chaudhary from Mathura. Jayant Chaudhary had won. However, RLD later separated from the alliance.
There is talk in political circles that with the alliance RLD will get back its lost ground. This seat with more than 19 lakh voters is also called Mini Chhaprauli due to the presence of around three and a half lakh Jat voters. In 2009, RLD had launched Jayant Chaudhary from this seat in alliance with BJP.
Brajvasis had sent him to Parliament. But, due to non-formation of BJP government, he went with Congress. In 2014, BJP fielded Hema Malini from Mathura. He defeated Jayant Chaudhary by 3,30,743 votes. In 2019, RLD had declared Kunwar Narendra Singh as its alliance candidate in 2019.
This was the first time that the Choudhary family had placed its bet on a non-Jat from the Jat dominated Mathura parliamentary constituency. But, he was not successful in this claim also. Hema Malini of BJP defeated him by 2,93.471 votes. This time RLD will also be seen asking for votes for Hema Malini.
