Kiran says part of the appeal of rosé wine lies in its versatility as it can be enjoyed as a fresh and easy-drinking wine, or paired with a variety of food options. Rosé wines have a wide range of flavor profiles. She also cites the growth of social media as a factor in the increasing popularity of rosé wine. As for her brand Revilo, she says the rosé section has grown by 15-20 per cent in the last three years.

Kiran says, “Rosé wine is especially popular among young wine drinkers in India. The reason for this is its strength. Colorful labels, attractive bottles and their sometimes whimsical packaging are all contributors here. “Celebrity connections also increase interest and recognition in this category.”
Perceptions and Challenges

Kiran suggests for Indian wine producers that “given the prohibitive entry costs in various states, it may be a good idea to start with at least one rosé in the portfolio. She says that now there are many options of Indian rosé wine available. In fact, many wine companies operating in India – be they producers or sellers, have rosé wines in their portfolio. Therefore, there is a wide variety of rosé wine available in the country, covering a wide range of tastes.
