Runway34 Review: Buckle up, Ajay Devgan’s entertainment flight ‘Runway34’ has landed

One by one stories have been created and shown on the cinema screen, but stories related to true events have always attracted the audience. Perhaps this is the reason why Ajay Devgn chose a story like ‘Runway 34’, which is based on a real incident, to become a director for the second time after ‘Shivaay’. Ajay Degwan and Amitabh Bachchan’s collision, court-room drama, real incident… all these aspects are enough to pull the audience to the theaters as a film. But will all these together make you enjoy ‘Hawaii Yatra’ as a film? Buckle up, because in this review you will be given complete details about this trip. Ajay Devgan has made ‘Runway 34’ in the style of Bollywood with flavors like Tom Hanks’s ‘Sully’ and Denzel Washington’s ‘Flight’ in Hollywood.

First of all, talking about the story, the story of the film is based on a true incident in 2015 on a Jet Airways flight coming from Doha to Cochin. It so happened that due to bad weather, there was no communication between the pilot and the control tower, due to which there was a fear of plane crash. But the understanding of the pilot saved everyone from being a victim of a major accident. In the film, Ajay Devgan is in the role of a pilot named Vikrant Khanna and his co-pilot is Rakul Preet Singh. Due to bad weather, pilot Vikrant (Ajay Devgan) decides to land the plane in Trivandrum instead of Bangalore. But where Ajay Devgan becomes a god for saving the lives of 150 passengers due to his decision, immediately after landing, his decision comes under question and Amitabh Bachchan pulls the strings.

Many such films have been made in Hindi cinema, in which the story inside the plane has been shown, but often the role of the cockpit is not much in such stories. But Runway 34 is different in many ways. In the first part of the film, Ajay Devgan is seen driving the plane and trying to land it due to bad weather. In this part of the film, you will see Ajay Devgan as the hero, but suddenly everything changes after the interval. The pilot who saved 150 lives by doing such a dangerous landing, who should have been garlanded, gets trapped in the inquiry. Slowly you also understand that this landing was not everything while saving the lives of the people, some mistakes were also made here. After all, what were those mistakes, you will know in the second part of the film.

Talking about acting, Ajay Devgan is known for acting with his eyes and he will be clearly seen doing this in this film as well. But in this film, along with Ajay, Rakul Preet has also been seen playing expressions like fear, fear, nervousness… with her eyes very well. Between two acting tsunamis like Ajay Devgan and Amitabh Bachchan, Rakul Preet has proved successful in making her place. Amitabh Bachchan’s entry may be after the interval but he brings a fresh air in the whole film. Who can do courtroom drama better than Amitabh Bachchan? His excellent Hindi, powerful voice, his close examination of things creates panic in the audience as well. Although I feel that the speed of the courtroom drama that has been created could have been increased a bit, but still the film has proved successful in leaving its impact.

Rakul Preet Singh has once again appeared with Ajay Devgan.

The most high point of the film is the cockpit scene of Ajay Devgan and Rakul Preet, in which they sit and try to land the plane in very bad conditions. That whole scene has been shown so beautifully in the film that sitting on the chairs, you will also be seen praying that ‘Oh God, just make a safe landing somehow…’

Runway is a balanced film with a new kind of story, in which technical and emotional spice has been given in the right way. Apart from all these big stars, the film has Akanksha Singh, Angira Dhar, who have been fine in their respective roles. Although you are expecting the role of YouTuber CarryMinati in this film, then you will only be disappointed. ‘Runway 34’ is a fun combination of great visual experience and strong acting and this combination deserves 3.5 stars from my side.
