Russia gifted a Newest built warship INS tushil reach India in Mid Feburary


INS Tushil Soon to reach India: The latest stealth missile frigate INS Tushil, which left Russia for India from Kaliningrad on 17 December 2024, is going to arrive in India soon. On Sunday, officials said that INS Tushil is expected to arrive on the west coast of the country in mid-February. This stealth guided missile made in Russia was inducted into the Indian Navy by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on 9 December 2024.

Officials said that INS Tushil will be part of the Western Fleet based in Mumbai. It was inducted into the Navy in the presence of Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, who described the warship as a testament to India’s growing maritime power and an important milestone in the long-standing friendship between the two countries. As part of strengthening bilateral relations and naval cooperation between India and Morocco, INS Tushil arrived at Casablanca, Morocco via India on 27 December.

Officials said that before reaching India, INS Tushil will also conduct anti-piracy patrol in the Gulf of Guinea off the West African coast.

First naval exercise to be held in 2023

India and the European Union conducted their first naval exercise in the Gulf of Guinea in October 2023 to boost maritime security cooperation, including combating piracy. INS Sumedha, an offshore patrol vessel, then joined the Italian, Spanish and French warships for the exercise.

Contribution of 33 Indian firms in INS Tushil

Tushil is an upgraded Krivak III-class frigate of project 1135.6 and six such ships are already in service. Tusheel has about 26 per cent indigenous content, which is double that of the previous Teg-class frigate. This includes contributions from 33 firms including Bharat Electronics Limited, BrahMos Aerospace (an India-Russian joint venture) and Nova Integrated Systems (a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Advanced Systems Limited).
