Russia-Ukraine war: America’s newly elected President Donald Trump spoke to Russian President Vladimir Putin on phone last Thursday (November 7). According to the Washington Post report, he discussed the ongoing war against Ukraine and advised Putin not to escalate the conflict. Apart from this, Russia was warned about America’s strong military presence in Europe. During the call, the two leaders also discussed ways to resolve the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, including efforts to maintain peace in the subcontinent.
The Ukrainian government was informed about the alleged call with Russia, the report said. He did not express any objection to this. However, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has denied this. He said that Kiev was not given any initial information about this call and described the report as false.

Kremlin’s response
On Friday, the Kremlin confirmed that Putin was ready to discuss Ukraine with Trump. However, he also clarified that this does not mean that Russia is ready to change its demands. Russia wants Ukraine to abandon its plans to join NATO and surrender the four territories currently occupied by Russia.

At present this call between Putin and Trump has not been officially confirmed. Even major news networks like Sky News have not independently confirmed this report.
