A few years ago, America had taught a lesson to Turkey for a similar move, when US President Joe Biden excluded Turkey from the F-35 project for purchasing the Russian S-400. Despite this, Erdogan is once again trying to deceive Russia.
In fact, during the Russia-Ukraine war, Erdogan was sympathizing with Russia, and also tried to mediate in peace talks with Ukraine without being invited. Now Turkey has delivered the second corvette to Russia’s biggest enemy Ukraine. It is believed that Ukraine will use this corvette in the war against Russia. The President of Ukraine announced on his website that Ukraine’s First Lady Olena Zelenska attended the launching program of the Ada-class ship during her visit to Turkey.
Ukraine attacks with sea drones
The Turkish corvette already present with Ukraine is currently undergoing sea trials. Turkey’s Ada class ships are usually capable of targeting aircraft, ships and submarines. In fact, Ukraine’s maritime border meets the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov. Ukraine had a small navy during the war in February 2022, but Ukraine has developed marine drones, which have been causing damage to the Russian fleet in the Black Sea.
Ukraine will train crew members
After receiving the warship from Turkey, the President of Ukraine said that Turkish corvettes will protect the country in the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov. Along with this, they will also assist in missions in the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. Ukrainian Navy spokesman Dmytro Platenchuk said that the second corvette has been launched from Turkey. Now this warship has to be equipped with modern weapons. Along with this, other crew members have to be trained. He said that 100 new crew members will be trained for deployment on the ship.
Western countries are helping Ukraine
The President of Ukraine said that 2 corvettes were ordered from Turkey under an agreement in the year 2020. Ukrainian officials said that a strategy has been made regarding maritime security only last month, which aims to rebuild its navy. Ukraine is also getting help from Western countries in this strategy.
