According to the information, the deceased wanted to live with her brother-in-law. She had been living with them for a month, after which her family left her with her maternal uncle and aunt in her grandmother’s village, Aina. Here, as soon as he got the chance, his throat was slit and he was hidden in a pile of straw in the field. Police have arrested four people including parents and grandmother in the case.
Sadar SDPO Alok Kumar said that the deceased along with her grandmother had met her parents at Murli Chowk. After that they went to Arapatti. Meanwhile, the girl’s father bought a knife at Baluaha Chowk. When the girl started running away from Aarapatti to her grandmother’s village Aina, everyone together caught her, then slit her throat with a knife and ran away.
The girl wanted to marry her brother-in-law
When the arrested accused and the minor were interrogated by the police, all of them accepted their involvement. During interrogation, they told that the deceased wanted to live with her elder sister’s husband and had already lived together for a month. The family members of the deceased wanted to get her married somewhere else. The deceased denied marrying anywhere else. Due to this anger, all of them (accused) carried out this incident.

Police further said that the FSL team was called to the spot by the local police to collect evidence. As per the instructions of the Superintendent of Police, taking this incident seriously, an SIT was formed under the leadership of Sub-Divisional Police Officer Sadar. The accused involved in this incident, the deceased’s father Buchan Sharma, mother Urmila Devi alias Bhavo Devi, Aina resident Aloghani Devi, were arrested by the formed SIT team and a minor was detained.
The injured girl died during treatment
The injured girl was admitted to Mahishi Primary Health Center for treatment by Mahishi police station. From where he was referred to Sadar Hospital Saharsa for better treatment. In view of the serious condition of the injured girl, she was referred from Sadar Hospital, Saharsa to Medical College, Darbhanga for better treatment. The injured girl died during treatment.
The father himself had lodged the FIR
The deceased’s father Buchan Sharma had given a written application at Mahishi police station on December 8 regarding the incident. On the basis of that, case number 364/24 was registered in Mahishi police station under relevant sections of the Indian Justice Code. In the application he had said that last one month ago my daughter had gone to Chikni Barsam of Saur Bazar police station area with my elder son-in-law. On December 7, I came to know that my daughter was killed and thrown into a bush in Aina village of Mahishi police station area. Then I came to know that my daughter has been taken to Darbhanga Medical College by the police administration for treatment. When we reached DMCH, the doctors declared him dead. He had investigated the matter from his level and demanded appropriate action.
