Former MP Salim Sherwani, who resigned from the post of National General Secretary of SP, says that Muslims have now started looking for alternatives for themselves. This option can be found in Congress, BSP or even BJP. He will take a decision in this regard soon after discussing with his supporters. Here are the highlights of the conversation with him-
Question – When did you feel that SP was moving away from PDA?
answer- Muslims have stood strongly with SP. The absence of even a single Muslim in the list of Rajya Sabha candidates is the biggest proof that SP is moving away from PDA.
Question- You got upset because you were not given a ticket?
answer- Last time, one of those whom SP sent to Rajya Sabha was Javed Ali. I was seeking ticket for Rajya Sabha last time too, but there was no opposition after Javed Ali’s name was included. I had welcomed the sending of Javed Ali.
Question- What is the option before Muslims?
answer- Political parties have been taking advantage of this by saying that Muslims have no option. Now we have to make a choice. A meeting has been held in Delhi to discuss this. Congress, BSP and even BJP can be an option for Muslims.
Question- You are accusing SP of deviating from the theme of PDA. What will be its consequences?
answer- There is no doubt that only the slogans of SP include backward, Dalit and minorities. In reality the party has gone far away from this. Certainly this situation will harm SP in future.
Salim Sherwani can go closer to BJP
Political experts say that the way Salim Sherwani has raised questions on the opposition alliance in his resignation letter. Describing it as a meaningless effort, secularism has been termed as cosmetic. Due to this, there is a greater possibility of him getting closer to BJP.
