Meerut News: A farmer tried to commit suicide by setting himself on fire in front of the SDM office in Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh. Samajwadi Party Chief and former CM Akhilesh Yadav has made a scathing attack on the Yogi government regarding this matter. Akhilesh Yadav alleged that farmers are being forced to sacrifice their lives under BJP rule. He has demanded appropriate action in this matter.

Farmer sets himself on fire in Meerut
In fact, in Meerut, a farmer allegedly tried to commit suicide by setting fire in front of Mawana Deputy District Magistrate (SDM) office on Friday in protest against the forest department taking over his land by claiming it to be government land. An official said that the farmer who attempted to commit suicide has been identified as Jagbir (53), resident of Alipur Morna.

The condition of the farmer is said to be critical due to more than 70 percent burns. The farmer, who was badly burnt in the fire, was first admitted to the Community Health Centre, from where he was sent to Meerut for better treatment.
