Ramkumar Nayak/Raipur: Chhattisgarh is called the rice bowl. Paddy is cultivated in large quantities here. There are many varieties of paddy among them, which are very beneficial for health. Scientists of Indira Gandhi Agricultural University, the only agricultural university of Chhattisgarh, have developed a new medicinal variety of paddy ‘Sanjeevani’ using the traditional knowledge of Chhattisgarh. Which has been found useful in increasing the body’s immunity and preventing cancer cells. Sanjeevani has been developed by selecting from the traditional medicinal paddy varieties of Chhattisgarh. This variety has been prepared after detailed analysis of the scientific basis of its medicinal properties. By using it for just 10 days, an increase in immunity has been observed.
Dr Deepak Sharma, Head of the Department of Plant Breeding, said that he has been working on paddy having medicinal value for the last 6 years and this work is being done under the joint aegis of Bhabha Atomic Research Center i.e. Nuclear Research Centre, Mumbai. Recently, in the results of a variety that came before us, Laicha was its old name because we have another variety in Laicha. One of the varieties found to have many medicinal properties is the Bastar variety. It has just been released by the State Variety Release Committee in the name of Sanjeevani.
Is an immunity booster
Dr. Deepak Sharma, Head of the Department of Plant Breeding, further said that the first variety of this method has been developed in India. Has been released. SVRC i.e. State Variety Release Committee has estimated this. So that our farmers and people can get benefit from this variety. The quality that has emerged in it is immunity booster. Meaning it gives us the ability to fight various diseases. In 1979, the great scientist Dr. R. H. Richhariya had also told about this paddy variety at that time that this paddy rice was very beneficial for pregnant women. By consuming it the child has good immunity and remains healthy.
A special variety of Sanjivani paddy
At present most of the farmers are growing high yielding varieties or adopting hybrid varieties. But all the quality in our traditional paddy varieties is gradually going away from us. Indira Gandhi Agricultural University has again brought them to the fore. Because of which India itself is being contacted with the entire world level. This is a special paddy of Sanjivani variety.
