As soon as summer comes, this energy drink starts being sold at every intersection. Yes! We are talking about Sattu. After drinking a glass of Sattu prepared from gram and other coarse grains in the morning, there is no need to have breakfast. To enhance the taste, people add salt, black salt, roasted cumin powder, onion, green chilli and lemon to it and drink it. In such a situation, today we will talk about Made in Begusarai Sattu, which is prepared from gram and cumin only.
Sadhna Devi, a resident of Pavra village near Manjhaul bus stand of Begusarai, has been preparing Sattu for the last 18 years. While talking to Local 18 Bihar, he told that years ago he had once bought Sattu in the market. But, his test was not good. Then asked the seller how to prepare Sattu. After this he himself started making Sattu and selling it in the market. For the first time he prepared and sold Sattu from 5 kg gram. Gradually, customers started liking their Sattu, and sales also started increasing. Sadhna’s colleague Phuleshwari Devi told that earlier she used to roast everyone’s food. This is how it is prepared
Sadhna tells that on an average 50 kg of Sattu is consumed every day. For this, she buys one quintal of desi gram every two days for Rs 7500. Then after frying it, roasted cumin is added to it. After this it is ground on the mill. It costs around Rs 1,000. After this she makes packets of 500-500 grams. It costs around Rs 1,000 from packing to supplying it in the market. She tells that all her Sattu is bought either by women or people going to Delhi-Punjab. Overall, up to Rs 2,000 can be earned every day.
