The results of the Gujarat assembly elections are out. This time the Bharatiya Janata Party has created a new record. In Gujarat, which has 182 assembly seats, 156 BJP candidates won the elections. The Congress suffered the most. The Congress came straight down to 17 from 77 seats. Means Congress had to bear the loss of 60 seats. At the same time, this time only five candidates of the Aam Aadmi Party, which claimed to form the government, could win the elections. The SP candidate won one seat, while the remaining three seats were won by independent candidates.

BJP’s Mahesh Kaswala defeated Pratap Dudhat of Congress by 3,492 votes in Savarkundla assembly seat in Amreli district. BJP candidate got 63,757 votes while Congress got 60,265 votes here. You stood at number three. Its candidate Bharat Nakrani got 7,895 votes, which was only 5.7 percent of the total votes. The deposits of nine candidates, including the AAP and the BSP candidate, were forfeited. Whereas, NOTA got 2,520 votes.

Congress got victory in 2017
The Congress had won the Savarkundla seat in the 2017 assembly elections. In this election, Congress had made Pratap Dudhat its candidate. Dudhat defeated BJP’s Kamlesh Kanani by a margin of 8,000 votes. A total of 11 candidates were in the fray here. Apart from these two, the deposits of the other nine candidates were forfeited. Pratap Dudhat got 66,366 votes. Whereas, BJP’s Kamlesh Kanani had to satisfy with 57,835 votes.
BJP’s Vallabhbhai Vaghasia won from here in the 2012 assembly elections. Vaghasia had defeated Pratap Dudhat of Congress. BJP candidate Vaghasia got 37,246. Whereas, Pratap Dudhat of Congress had to satisfy with 34,862 votes.

Congress had won four seats in Amreli district in 2017.
Four of the five seats in Amreli (Amreli, Rajula, Lathi and Sanwarkundla) were won by Congress candidates, while one seat was won by the BJP candidate.
