Sawan 2024 lord shiva favorite month know importance of shravan according to shastrarth

Sawan 2024: Sawan or Shravan month has started from Monday, 22 July 2024. As soon as Sawan started, long queues of devotees have started forming for darshan and worship in every Shiva temple across the country. It is believed that in this month Lord Shiva fulfills all the wishes of the devotees.

According to Swami Anjani Nandan Das, Lord Vishnu, the controller of the universe, sleeps at King Bali’s place from Ashadhi Ekadashi to Kartik Shukla Ekadashi, hence Lord Shiva controls the universe during the period of four months i.e. Chaturmas (Chaturmas 2024). Let us now look at the scriptures and know why the month of Sawan is so dear to Lord Shiva.

According to Skanda Purana Shravan Mahatmya 1.17–

द्वादशास्वपी मासेषु श्रावानो मेयतिवल्लभः।
श्रावनारहं यन्महात्म्यं तेनासौ श्रावानो मत:॥

Meaning- Out of the 12 months, the month of Shravan is most dear to Lord Shiva. Its significance is worth listening (shravan), hence it is called Shravan.

Narada Purana Previous Part- According to the fourth pada chapter number 110.109-120, this fast is observed from the first Monday of Shravan Shukla Pratipada or Shravan month for three and a half months. In this, Someshwar Lord Shiva is worshipped with Bilva Patra every day.

Narada Purana Previous Part- According to the fourth pada, chapter number 114, on the fourth day of the dark fortnight of Shravan month, when a few days are left, then a learned man should keep raw food (as much as is to be donated) in separate vessels and fill those vessels with water. After this, all the water should be drained out. Then the next day, after sunrise, take a ritualistic bath and worship the gods, sages and ancestors.

Place naivedya in front of them and happily give the washed raw food of the previous day to the beggars. Then go to the Shiva temple during Pradosh period and do proper worship of Lord Shiva in the form of Linga with fragrance, flowers etc. Then chant the Panchakshari Vidya (‘Om Namah Shivaya’ mantra) a thousand or hundred times. Then always pray to Lord Shiva for the success of food.

After this, come to your house and offer the food to Brahmins etc. and then eat silently yourself. Brahmin! This is ‘Annavrata’, if it is followed by humans in a proper manner, it produces all the food wealth and gives salvation in the next world.
