Whereas some schools have already taken increased fees from parents for the session 2024-25 starting from April 1. After getting approval to increase the fees, he will again collect the fees from the parents along with arrears. Due to this reason the parents are already worried.
The Directorate of Education has issued an order asking schools built on land allotted by a government agency in Delhi to submit proposals for increasing fees in the 2024-25 session. Schools have been asked to send proposals for increasing fees along with necessary documents and financial records from April 1 to April 15. It has been clarified in the order that schools that do not send proposals will not be allowed to increase fees.
The proposals submitted by the schools will be examined by the Director of Education through any officer or team authorized in this behalf. Schools have been given strict instructions not to increase fees until the proposal sent by them is approved by the Director of Education. If the school does not submit a fee hike proposal, it will not increase its fees for the academic session 2024-25.
Increasing fees without approval will be taken seriously
The Directorate of Education has made it clear in its order that if a complaint is received about increasing fees without approval, it will be taken seriously. In such a situation, strict action will be taken against the school under statutory provisions.
Some schools have increased fees for nursery, KG and first class.
The academic session of schools is to start from April 1 and many schools have already increased fees by 10-12 percent from parents. Parents allege that if approval is given to increase the fees, the school will again collect the fees along with arrears. Due to this, they will have to pay increased fees twice in a year. President of Delhi Parents Association, Aparajita Gautam, says that issuing an order asking for proposals to increase fees two-three days before the session is about to start is like misleading the parents.
Whereas the Directorate is already required to post the fee structure on its website. So that parents can know how much fee they have to pay for each item. But this is not done by the Directorate. Now if any school gets approval to increase fees by July or October, then it will collect the increased fees from the parents along with arrears.
