During Navratri, devotees keep fast for nine days and worship 9 different forms of Mata Rani. Navratri started on 3 October 2024, which is now towards its end. After Navratri fast, it is passed with rituals at an auspicious time.
During Navratri, some people keep fast for the entire 9 days, some keep fast on the first and last day, while some keep only Ashtami fast. But as per the rules, the fast should be broken only in auspicious time.
There is a religious belief that Navratri fast should always be broken after worshiping the girl. However, for those who fast for the entire 9 days, it is auspicious to break the Navratri fast when Dashami Tithi starts after Navami Tithi ends.
Actually, according to the Panchang, this year October 10 is Saptami and Ashtami Tithi. But according to the scriptures, when Saptami and Ashtami fall on the same day, then Ashtami fast should not be observed. In such a situation, this year Ashtami and Navami fasts will be observed on 11 October 2024 only. Those people who observe fast only on Ashtami can break their fast on 11 October 2024.
For those who will fast for full 9 days during Navratri, it will be auspicious to perform Parana after 10.58 am on 12th October. Because at this time Navami Tithi will end and Dashami Tithi will begin.
How to do Parana: After waking up in the morning and taking bath, worship Goddess Durga, perform aarti, apologize and donate. The fast should be broken by taking Prasad from Mata Rani. Only satvik food should be eaten on the day of Parana. Do not consume tamasic food on this day.
