The only Shaktipeeth in the country where worship is done in the form of clay ingot.
According to Markandaya Purana and Durga Saptashati, King Surath and Samadhi Vaishya had established the idol of nine Pindis of clay. This nine Pindi idol is worshipped. Both of them had worshiped at this place for years. Then the goddess appeared and gave him the desired boon. The same huge ball shaped mass of clay is still present in this temple. The clay idol of Maa Bhavani is anointed daily with water, honey, ghee and jasmine oil. It is a miracle that not even an inch of the clay statue has been eroded yet. It is said that this is the only Shaktipeeth in the whole of India, where the Mother Goddess is worshiped in the form of an earthen lump. At the same time, river Ganga has also turned from south to north here to wash the feet of Adishakti Maa Ambika Bhavani. Here the devotees make a wish by putting their hands in the pond located in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple. The wish is fulfilled by keeping the Prasad received from the Kund in a fist and hiding it in a red cloth and then the Prasad and the thing is returned to the Kund. The number of devotees in this temple reaches lakhs on Chaitra and Shardiya Navratri.
