Shekhar said, “This was probably the best break for any newcomer in the history of Indian cinema. Within 15 days I was signed for the film. I hadn’t even opened my suitcase yet and in two months, I was on the sets, shooting with Rekha. I will always be grateful to Shashi Kapoor, Girish Karnad, Rekha, all of them.

Shekhar further revealed, “I have never met more professional actors than Rekha. I remember there was a massive income tax raid on him on the first day of shooting. Any other actor would have packed his bags and left.
