Ship Hijacked On Somalia Coast 15 Indian Crew Aboard Indian Navy Searching


Ship Hijacked: A ship named ‘MV Leela Norfolk’ has been hijacked off the Somalia coast. The ship was hijacked yesterday i.e. Thursday (04 January), after which the Indian Army is keeping a strict vigil on it. Actually, the Indian Army is monitoring the hijacked Liberian flagged ship because the crew on the ship also includes 15 Indian members.

According to the report, this ship named ‘MV Leela Norfolk’ has been hijacked near the maritime border of Somalia. Indian Navy has become active after receiving information about hijacking. The Navy has also issued an update in this regard. Along with this, the Navy has sent one of its warships INS Chennai towards the kidnapped ship.

15 Indians on board

In its report, ANI quoted military officials as saying that the flag of Liberia was flying on the hijacked ship. Also, there are 15 Indian crew members on board, although the identity of the criminals who hijacked the ship is currently unknown. According to the report, Indian authorities have established communication with the crew members on board the ship. The report claims that at present all the crew members are safe inside the ship.

The ship was also hijacked on 14 December

The Indian Navy said that the ship had sent a message to Britain’s Maritime Trade Operations Portal. In which it was told that the ship has been hijacked. According to the message, on the evening of January 4, about 5-6 people reached the ship with weapons and kidnapped it. It is noteworthy that such incidents have increased these days in Arabia and Red Sea. Earlier on December 14, pirates had hijacked a ship from Malta.
